My name is Madison Melon, and I am a sophomore majoring in Political Science and Letters with a minor in Women's Studies. This is the first Women's Studies class that I have taken so far, and it seems like it's a great way to get an overview of the subject matter. I am very interested in women's issues, and I am proud to call myself a feminist.
Five questions that I would like to have answered through this course are:
1. Why does the media look at what a woman is wearing before the examine her speech or her accomplishments?
2. Why, after years of struggle, are men and women still not considered equal? (And not just in the workplace)
3. Why are women such big critics of other women?
4. Why don't more women run for public office?
5. Why does the media have one definition of "beauty"?
I hope to examine these topics and many more!
